The 87th Annual Oscars will be held on February 22, 2015, and the Academy released the batch of nominations on Jan. 15.
Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, the Oscars have stirred up the same controversy as always, with their lack of African American nominees, for both movies and as actors.
Selma, produced by Oprah Winfrey however got a nod for “Best Picture” and “Best Original Song”, however the recent remake of “Annie” starring former Oscar winners Quvenzhané Wallis and Jamie Foxx did not even draw a single look from the Academy.
Twitter has even taken the outrage to the next level, producing the hash tag #OscarsSoWhite to express their displeasure with the nominees.
