The last remake of the musical “Annie” produced a hip-hop song by rapper Jay-Z himself. This time around, Jigga has taken the whole musical into his own hands.
Planned to be released on Christmas 2014, the film has finally rounded out an already All-Star cast line up.
Most recently signed was actress Cameron Diaz. Diaz will play the role of Miss Hannigan, the very angry matron in charge of the orphanage in the story of “Annie”. Diaz reportedly beat out Sandra Bullock for the role.
Another recent addition to the remake of “Annie” is Oscar-nominated, “Beasts Of The Southern Wild” star, 9 year old actress Quvenzhane Wallis. The young Wallis will be playing the lead role of Annie in the updated version of the classic musical. Originally in 2011, when the remake was first announced, Willow Smith was picked to play the role of Annie.
Jay-Z and Will Smith have teamed up to help produce the film, which also stars Jamie Foxx as Daddy Warbucks.
Will Gluck, who directed “Easy A” and “Friends With Benefits”, is the director of this remake.
So make sure you check out the “Annie” remake when it hits theaters December 2014.
